2 charged with prostitution at Carowinds-area motel

Deputies charged two women with prostitution Thursday after both admitted to officers they engaged in sex acts for money at the Motel 6 near Carowinds, according to a police report.

A Charlotte woman told deputies she was staying at the motel and selling herself for money in both Charlotte and South Carolina, according to a York County Sheriff’s Office report. The second woman, who police say was homeless, told officers she was only there to ensure the safety of the first woman, the report states, but admitted that she posted computer ads for both of them.

The report also shows that a Charlotte man put the room in his name, assisted with transportation, and was supposed to receive half the money.
