For the second time this month, a shoplifter has snagged more than $500 in fragrances from the same Rock Hill store, according to Rock Hill Police.

Officers on Monday met with an employee of Ulta Beauty on John Ross Parkway. The employee told them the store had received a phone call about a shoplifting at an Ulta store in Charlotte, according to a police report. The employee said a man matching the description of the Charlotte shoplifting suspect later entered the Rock Hill store and immediately began placing fragrances in his bag.

The employee asked the man if she could help him and he said no, then asked her to walk to the front with him, police said. The suspect then left the store without paying for the items in his bag.

The suspect is described in the report as being a black male, about 5-foot-8 and weighing 140 pounds. He has a “close” haircut, was wearing a black shirt and “washed” jeans, and fled the store in a cream-colored Cadillac.

Earlier this month, a man entered the same store, put $1,000 in fragrances into a bag and left without paying, according to a police report. The suspect dropped the bag as he left, breaking the handles. He touched several boxes, dropping them on his way out.

A woman was driving the car in which that suspect fled, and store employees told police at the time that they saw a woman matching her description enter the store earlier that day and place sticky notes on items throughout the store, “as if she was setting up for someone to come in behind her and take the items.”

Last month, a shoplifter took more than $700 in fragrances from the Rock Hill store, and earlier this year, shoplifters nabbed more than $2,600 in fragrances.
