A Rock Hill teenager is facing criminal charges after police say he crashed his car when officers tried to pull him over for a traffic violation, then ran on foot, leaving drugs behind.

Just before 2 a.m. Wednesday, officers reported a 1999 Honda driving on Cherry Road near Lister Street without its headlights on, disregarding a traffic signal while driving on the left side of the road.

The patrol car activated its lights and sirens to make a traffic stop, at which point the Honda turned onto Lister Street and promptly hit a parked car, according to the incident report.

Two men reportedly jumped out of the vehicle and ran on foot. Officers chased the driver, Rakim Jakaree Allah, 17, through Boyd Hill Park and took him into custody once they reached Castle Street.

When police searched the car, they found 2.27 grams of crack cocaine inside the driver’s side door panel, the report states.

Allah was arrested and charged with possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute, resisting police and several traffic violations.
