A Rock Hill man and his girlfriend – accused of cutting him in the throat with a knife after allegedly being choked during an argument – were arrested Thursday night after a neighbor called 911 to report possible domestic violence, according to police records.

Rock Hill Police say the couple apparently had a fight in their Celanese Road apartment and were both injured.

Sean Goddard, age 30, and Jennifer Elkins, age 34, were each charged with criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature, the police incident report states. They were arrested after officers saw a four-inch cut on Goddard's neck and he accused Elkins of cutting him, according to the report.

Elkins told police "she didn't know what happened" but she felt "she was in the right" because Goddard shoved her during an argument, then choked and strangled her, the report states. Officers say they could see injuries on Elkins' neck, including scratches and bruises "consistent with a possible strangulation."

Goddard also told police that he took the knife Elkins allegedly used to cut him with and threw it in a creek behind the apartment. Police could not find the knife, according to the report.

Later, officers say they found a bloody folding pocket knife in a kitchen drawer. The knife was taken into evidence. Rock Hill officers also found blood on bed sheets in an upstairs bedroom, according to the report.
