Rock Hill student, 12, accused of assaulting teacher during class
A Sullivan Middle School student was recently removed from a classroom following a scuffle with a teacher.
A teacher told Rock Hill police two students had a "minor altercation" in her classroom and she separated them, according to a police report released Friday.
One of the students threatened the teacher and approached her after being told to sit down several times. The 12-year-old boy then "shoved” the teacher back in to her desk, the report states.
Another teacher witnessed the incident and called an administrator, who took the child to his office until a parent could pick him up.
Police charged the student with assault and battery, third degree. He was petitioned to juvenile court.
Rock Hill schools spokesman Mychal Frost said the situation was handled “appropriately and discretely by all parties.”
