Rock Hill officers arrest 2 accused in armed robbery, home invasion
Police have charged two people this week in connection with a reported October home invasion and armed robbery at a home on Ebenezer Avenue Extension in Rock Hill.
Detectives allege the crime happened Oct. 9 around 8:45 p.m. Rock Hill Police charged Darrin Montrell Cherry with armed robbery with a deadly weapon, assault and battery first-degree, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and criminal conspiracy, according to law enforcement records.
Officers also charged Kimberly Beth Alger with criminal conspiracy and armed robbery with a deadly weapon, the police records show.
Cherry is accused of forcefully entering a man’s home on Ebenezer Avenue Extension after knocking on the door, according to a Rock Hill Police report. The man at the home didn’t report the alleged robbery until nearly two weeks later, police say.
He told officers he waited to reported the crime because he feared retribution. The man claims Cherry pushed open his door when he answered it and then pushed a gun onto the man’s forehead, according to the police incident report.
Cherry is accused of taking a $20 bill from the man’s wallet before leaving the home, the report states. Later, the man claims a neighbor identified the alleged suspect as Cherry and named Alger has being involved.
Detectives investigated, according to the police report, and arrested Alger and Cherry this week.
