Police: Lancaster shooting involved over 50 rounds of ammunition
Police released new details Monday about a weekend shooting in Lancaster that left two men injured.
Officers were called to the 400 block of Miller Street around 6 a.m. Sunday. One man in his 20s was transported from the scene with a gunshot wound to Springs Memorial Hospital, according to a news release from the Lancaster Police Department. He was then airlifted to another hospital for further treatment.
Later, a second man, also in his 20s, arrived at Springs Memorial Hospital with a gunshot wound and also was transported to another location for treatment.
Investigators determined both men were shot and injured at the Miller Street home, although it was not clear what the relationship is between the two men. A police spokesman on Sunday declined to say where the shooting victims had been taken for treatment, indicating they may still be under threat until police can identify a suspect or a motive.
State Law Enforcement Division investigators assisted police. Evidence indicates more than 50 rounds were fired during an exchange between multiple shooters at the site Sunday morning, including one shot that struck an apartment building 200 yards away from the crime scene, police say.
No arrests have been made in relation to the shooting.
On Monday morning, police arrested a suspect in an attempted burglary at the Miller Street home.
Lancaster Police Capt. Scott Grant said the burglary does not appear to be related to the shooting.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call investigators at 803-283-1174 or the anonymous tip line at 803-289-6040. All calls will remain confidential.
