Police: Driver pointed handgun during Catawba ‘road-rage’ incident
An alleged “road-rage” driver pointed a handgun at a Lancaster man during a recent incident in southeastern York County, according to the York County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies met with the victim about 6:30 a.m. Thursday at a gas station on S.C. 5, and he told them another driver pointed a gun at him, according to an incident report. The victim said a hatchback was “all over the road and riding his bumper,” and squeezed between the victim’s car and another vehicle.
When the victim flashed his high beams, he told deputies, the other driver began flipping the middle finger at him and slamming on his brakes. When the alleged “road-rage” driver pulled over to the side of the highway, the victim said, he pulled over too.
The victim told deputies he saw a gun in the other driver’s hand when he got out of his car, and that the man pointed it at him. When the victim asked the other driver why he was “in such a rush,” the report states, the armed man told him that “he didn’t have to listen to him,” and he drove away.
The victim was unable to provide a correct license plate number.
