Report: $1,000 in textbooks stolen from car in Rock Hill neighborhood
A trip to get a pizza ended with a Rock Hill woman having nearly $1,000 worth of textbooks stolen from her car, according to police.
Rock Hill officers say the 22-year-old called police on Tuesday night just before 9:30 to report a theft from her car which was parked on North Jones Avenue. The woman told police she’d left with a friend to pick up a pizza and when she returned, she saw her car door open.
According to a police incident report, three men were standing nearby and ran away when she approached them. The woman gave officers a description of the men and said one of them appeared to be hiding something under his jacket before fleeing the scene.
Officers set up a search perimeter and attempted to track the men with a K-9 unit, the police report states. No arrests were made but officers took fingerprints from the car door for evidence.
The woman reported her navy blue handbag with textbooks inside were stolen.
