Report: More than $20K in jewelry, electronics taken from Fort Mill home

A burglar took more than $20,000 in clothing, jewelry and electronics from a Fort Mill home this week, according to the York County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies met with the owner of the Durand Road home, who said he and his family returned home to find someone had broken into the house, according to an incident report. Investigators believe the suspect entered the home by breaking a rear window, inside of which they found a single muddy footprint.

Missing from the home were more than $20,000 in items, including clothing, computers, a TV and jewelery.

The homeowner told deputies he believes the suspect is a former classmate, who has been to their home before and has allegedly stolen from him and his son. Those thefts were never reported, he said.

Investigators say they dusted the window where the suspect entered and found smudge marks that indicate the suspect was wearing gloves. The home was not completely rummaged through, and it appeared the suspect only entered certain rooms and areas, the report states.
