Police: Drunken Rock Hill mom passed out in floor with toddler daughter upstairs

A Rock Hill mother was cited for cruelty to children after she passed out drunk on her living room floor with her 1-year-old daughter upstairs, according to police.

Someone reported a woman passed out at an apartment on the 300 block of Ebenezer Avenue about 10 p.m. Friday, according to an incident report from the Rock Hill Police Department. An officer arrived before EMS and found the unresponsive 24-year-old woman on the living room floor.

Police say the woman had vomited, and there were multiple open alcohol containers in the home.

A neighbor, who was also “heavily intoxicated,” told officers she and the suspect had been drinking alcohol since 5 p.m. and she decided to call EMS after being unable to wake the suspect.

The suspect’s 1-year-old daughter was upstairs, police said. Both women were “far too intoxicated to care for a child.”

The mother was taken by ambulance to Piedmont Medical Center because of her level of intoxication, police said. The 1-year-old was placed into her aunt’s custody.
