Police arrest Rock Hill man whose mom found sawed-off shotgun under his bed
Police on Monday arrested a Rock Hill man whose mother found a sawed-off shotgun while searching his bedroom, according to law enforcement records.
Deven Truesdale, 22, of Glenarden Drive, was charged with unlawful possession of a sawed-off shotgun and unlawful possession of a firearm with a serial number removed, according to Rock Hill Police. He was placed in the Rock Hill city jail and was released Monday afternoon on a $5,000 bond.
Truesdale’s mother told police on Nov. 4 that she was searching her son’s bedroom in her home because he smelled of marijuana a couple of days earlier, according to a police report. When she lifted up his bed, she found the gun.
The mother wrapped the gun in a towel and took it to the Rock Hill Law Center, police said. The gun’s barrel had been cut down, the stock was cut off and there was black electrical tape wrapped around the portion of the stock that had been cut.
The serial number and any other identifying markings had also been filed off, police said.
