Rock Hill Police are searching for a man who struck a patrol car and hit an officer at a gas station Tuesday night.

The incident happened about 11:30 p.m. at the Kangaroo Express on Tinsley Way and the suspect fled the scene, according to a police report. The officer, Lt. Anthony Breeden, was not injured, officials said.

On Wednesday, the police department released video and images of what happened after Breeden approached the suspect who was leaving the gas station store to walk back to an unattended vehicle where the stereo was playing music loudly.

The officer and the man spoke briefly, with Breeden asking the man for identification. Video from the patrol car dashcam shows the man looking inside his car and Breeden standing at the driver’s door.

Police say the suspect then put his car in gear and attempted to drive away. He struck Breeden’s patrol car then put his own car in reverse, striking Breeden with an open car door as he attempted to back up.

The suspect fled “at a high rate of speed,” according to the police incident report. Breeden chased the vehicle on Tinsley Way toward John Ross Parkway but lost sight of it.

According to officials, the suspect vehicle is a white Cadillac DeVille with a green paper tag and front end damage.

Rock Hill Police is asking for anyone with information to call 911.
