York Co. sex offender arrested; another still sought

Severs
Severs York County Sheriff’s Office

One of two sex offenders sought by the York County Sheriff’s Office for failure to register has been arrested, according to jail records.

Demitrius Antwan Baxter, 37, was arrested late Wednesday and placed in the York County Detention Center, where he remained Friday under $124,260 bond. He is charged with two counts of sex offender registry violation and multiple drug charges.

Baxter was one of two sex offenders the sheriff’s office began searching for last week because they did not register as sex offenders, as required by law.

The second man, 49-year-old Leland Eugene Severs, of Forest Music Drive in Clover, has not been arrested.

Anyone with information on Severs’ whereabouts is asked to call York County Crime Stoppers at 877-409-4321 or the sheriff’s office at 803-628-3059.
