Police: York woman stabbed by stranger at store’s ice box

A woman told York police she was stabbed in the arm by a strange man while standing beside a store’s outdoor ice box.

The 55-year-old woman reported standing at the ice storage box outside the Dollar General on East Liberty Street at 9:15 p.m. Monday when she felt a “stick” in her left arm, according to a police report.

She turned and saw a young man in his late teens or 20s wearing dark shorts and a backpack running from the area.

The woman said she didn’t recognize the man, and believes she may have startled him when she approached the ice box, leading to the attack.

The victim was not seriously injured and declined any medical attention. Police searched the area for the stabber but were unable to locate him. What kind of weapon was used to stab the woman was also unidentified.
