Police find woman asleep at the wheel beside a York gas pump

Police arrested a woman they found asleep behind the wheel of her car at a York gas pump.

An officer found the 25-year-old Fort Mill woman passed out in the driver’s seat of her Nissan at a gas station on Alexander Love Highway at 4:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The officer had to make several attempts to wake the woman before she finally responded. A police report notes the woman was lethargic, had slow speech and had difficulty standing when police asked her to get out of the car. She reportedly said she fell asleep because her prescription medication made her sleepy.

She was charged with disorderly conduct, and her car was towed from the scene.
