In 2013, Andrew Brown put several Clover schools on lockdown after he stole his mother’s guns from a safe and disappeared.

Now, the North Carolina man is scheduled to appear on the Dr. Phil television show on Wednesday along with his mother Karen Brown, who told the TV cameras she fears her son becoming a mass murderer.

Brown’s segment will air as part of a focus on mass shootings in America, in an episode that will also feature family members of those killed in last week’s shooting in San Bernardino, Calif.

In April 2013, then-20-year-old Brown stole several weapons from his mother’s Anson County, N.C., home and drove to Clover, where he threatened to shoot her and any police officers who tried to stop him.

Surrounding schools were put on lockdown as a precaution while Brown was locked in a standoff with York County Sheriff’s deputies at a home on Oak Street, before he was taken into custody. The more serious gun-related charges against Brown were later dismissed, and he served time for petty theft and breaking and entering.

Last year, he was arrested again for allegedly having sex with a 12-year-old girl.

Karen Brown says her son’s mental health issues have led to erratic behavior and poor decision making. She tells show host Dr. Phil McGraw she fears her son is contemplating a mass murder, idolizes terrorists and the Columbine shooters, and that she and her partner have started carrying concealed weapons for their own protection.

On the same show, the host will speak with families of two victims of the mass shooting in San Bernardino. On Dec. 2, 14 people were killed and 21 injured in a mass shooting at the Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino after married couple Syed Rizwan Farook and Tashfeen Malik, targeted a San Bernardino County Department of Public Health training event and holiday party.

Dr. Phil’s show will feature families of Sierra Clayborn, a 27-year-old restaurant inspector with San Bernardino County, and 42-year-old Daniel Kaufman, who ran the coffee shop at the services center where the shooting occurred.
