Robber takes juice from breakfast bar before swiping cash from Rock Hill motel
Deputies are searching for a man who robbed a Rock Hill motel early Monday.
The robbery happened about 5:30 a.m. at the Red Roof Inn on Riverview Road, according to a report from the York County Sheriff’s Office. The motel clerk told deputies the robber entered the lobby and asked if the continental breakfast was ready.
“She told him to help himself, and he poured himself a glass of orange juice,” the report states. The clerk went to the reception area, to which the suspect followed her and said, “I’m gonna rob you.”
The clerk fled the lobby and locked herself in the stock area, where she dialed 911, deputies said. The suspect took about $250 cash from the register.
Surveillance footage shows the suspect ride up on a bicycle, which he left leaning against a wall in the parking lot, the report states. After taking the money, he fled through a tree line on the back of the motel.
Police bloodhounds assisted in the search but lost the trail not far from the motel.
The orange juice, two Danish wrappers, a shirt and the bicycle were placed into evidence.
