York man charged with sexually abusing girl, 8

A York man is accused of sexually abusing an 8-year-old girl over the summer, according to the York County Sheriff’s Office.

Randall Scott Bolton, 29, was charged with one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor and two counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor, according to law enforcement records. He remained in the York County Detention Center on Wednesday without bond.

The investigation began in June after the child’s mother took her to a pediatric office for an exam, according to a sheriff’s report. The mother told deputies the girl began touching her private parts two weeks before the doctor visit, and the day before, the girl reported burning in that area while swimming.

The girl told her mother that Bolton had sexually assaulted her, investigators say.

The girl made allegations of sexual abuse by Bolton while speaking with the Department of Social Services but “did not make any disclosures of sexual or physical abuse” during a police interview, the report states. Investigators determined the girl would benefit from counseling.

The girl was interviewed by investigators again last week, the report says, after which Bolton was arrested.
