Police: Lock on Rock Hill ATM burned in burglary attempt
Someone tried to burn the lock off the door of an ATM at a Rock Hill bank, according to the Rock Hill Police Department.
Officers on Thursday met with the maintenance and landscaping manager for the Founders Federal Credit Union on the 1400 block of Ebenezer Road, according to a police report. The maintenance manager said he found burn marks on the side door of the ATM.
Police say the suspect used an “unknown incendiary means” to try to burn the lock off the door. No entry was made to the machine, which had about $100 in cosmetic damage.
Investigators were working to obtain surveillance footage and photos of the incident. The case remains under investigation.
