Rock Hill woman charged with domestic violence after Christmas Day shooting
A Rock Hill woman shot her boyfriend during a disagreement between the two of them about going to her mother’s home for Christmas, according to a York County Sheriff’s Office report released Monday.
Deputies on Christmas Day responded to a 911 hangup on the 2200 block of Porter Road, according to the report. Neighbors told deputies there was an “accidental shooting and the bullet ricocheted off the toilet and hit someone in the shoulder.”
The 51-year-old victim didn’t appear to have any injuries when he answered the door and told deputies no one in the home called 911.
The victim allowed officers to search the home, and they found drops of blood on the rug in a bathroom and a shell casing near the bathroom door, deputies said. He first said he fell, and then when a deputy picked up the bullet and told him they had a 911 recording from the home, the victim said his girlfriend of 20 years, Krystal Kuntz, shot him.
The victim lifted his shirt and showed deputies a wound to his back that appeared as though someone tried to bandage it, the report states.
Kuntz, 37, became upset while she and the victim were having a disagreement about going to her mother’s home for Christmas, deputies say. She went to the master bedroom, got a 9 mm gun and started waving it around in the bathroom where he was.
The victim said he didn’t believe Kuntz knew how to take the safety off, and that the shooting was an accident, the report states. He added that they weren’t fighting or arguing and he didn’t want her to get in trouble.
EMS transported the man to a Charlotte hospital. Deputies say Kuntz had already fled when they arrived.
Kuntz was later arrested and charged with criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature, according to law enforcement records. She was placed in the York County Detention Center and released Sunday on $10,000 bond.
