Police: Rock Hill shoe store employee took $8,000 in footwear

A Rock Hill shoe store employee took more than $8,000 in footwear over the course of a year to sell herself, according to Rock Hill Police.

Managers for Shoe Show on Old York Road reported Friday that the store had terminated an employee for “numerous incidents of theft” from the company, according to a police report. Between Sept. 1, 2014 and Dec. 8, 2015, the employee falsified numerous store returns and stole pairs of shoes to sell on her own, officials said.

The employee also allowed store customers to take shoes from the store and leave, while she was paid 50 percent of the value of each pair taken, police said. Store officials said the total loss to the business was $8,039.

Documents in which the employee reportedly admitted to the theft were turned over to police. Shoe Show wishes to press charges against the employee.
