Gunman flees after swiping cash from Rock Hill hotel
Rock Hill Police are investigating the overnight armed robbery of a hotel on Cherry Road.
Officers responded to the Quality Inn and Suites on North Cherry Road just after midnight, according to a police report. They found the front desk clerk crying and an empty cash register tray sitting on the desk.
The clerk told officers a man in his 20s entered the hotel and asked for the price of a room. He left and returned minutes later, presented a black handgun and demanded money from the clerk.
The suspect fled on foot after taking an undisclosed amount of money from the tray, police said. He is described as a white male in his 20s with tattoos of crosses under his eyes. He was wearing white shoes, black pants and a gray New England Patriots sweatshirt with the hood pulled over his head.
Just minutes before, a young woman entered the lobby asking for prices as well. She left in an unknown vehicle before the robbery occurred. It’s not clear if she was involved in the robbery.
Investigators were able to pick up fingerprints from the desk, which the suspect touched repeatedly without gloves, police said.
