Driver jailed for DUI, child endangerment after Chester Co. traffic stop
A Charlotte man is accused of driving while impaired with three children in the car, according to the Chester County Sheriff’s Office.
Officers on patrol on Interstate 77 saw a dark van cross over the fog line and jerk back into the roadway as it traveled north, according to a sheriff’s report. They pulled the vehicle over and spoke with the driver, 32-year-old Semi Yoro of Pleasant Grove Road in Charlotte. Deputies say they smelled beer and marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.
When a deputy asked Yoro if there was anything illegal in the van, Yoro handed him a clear plastic bag from his pocket that contained marijuana, the report states. Yoro smelled of beer and told deputies he had been drinking earlier.
State troopers with the S.C. Highway Patrol responded and arrested Yoro after field sobriety testing, deputies said. He was taken to the Chester County Detention Center. Officers remained and waited for the children’s mother to arrive and take the van and the children.
Yoro was charged with DUI, child endangerment and possession of marijuana, according to court records. He was later released on bond.
