Book bags, purses stolen from parked school bus on Rock Hill field trip
Someone took book bags, purses and a cellphone from a group of students and teachers who had stopped at a Rock Hill restaurant while on a field trip, according to police.
The thefts happened about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the McDonald’s on East Main Street in Rock Hill, according to a police report. A teacher told officers students from two middle schools in Cherokee County had stopped at the restaurant while on a field trip.
When students and teachers returned to the bus, they noticed some of their belongings were missing, including four book bags, two purses, a cellphone, a lunch box and a jacket, police said. The door to the bus had not been locked and there were no signs of forced entry.
There were no witnesses who saw anyone on the bus, police said. One student reported seeing a suspicious older model Chevrolet Caprice parked by the bus but was unable to provide further information.
