Police search for gunman after shots fired in Rock Hill
Gunshots were fired Thursday afternoon outside a Rock Hill home, prompting a lockdown at a nearby school, police say.
The call came in about 4:45 p.m. at a home on the 1000 block of Finley Road, according to Capt. Mark Bollinger of the Rock Hill Police Department. No one was injured, and Bollinger said there were no signs of bullet holes in the home or in the vehicles parked outside; however, shell casings were found in the roadway next to the home.
The home where the shots were reported is located next to Finley Road Elementary School, and police were told the suspect ran into a wooded area behind the school. Officers swarmed the area, and a bloodhound was brought in to assist in the search.
Bollinger said if the K-9 didn’t pick up a trail, officers would discontinue the search.
Bollinger said so students were still at Finley Road Elementary for an after-school program, and an officer was stationed there while parents picked their children up Thursday afternoon.
The road was closed during the initial investigation but it has since reopened.
