Police have arrested the man they say stabbed another man during an argument over someone’s being “disrespectful.”

Denzel Boozer, 23, was arrested Wednesday and charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, said Capt. Mark Bollinger, Rock Hill Police Department spokesman. Officers received a tip from an anonymous source that Boozer would be arriving at a Paxton Street home on Wednesday morning.

Police were there waiting when Boozer entered the home. He turned to flee, but was captured as he tried to run into a closet.

Boozer is charged in connection with a stabbing at a home on Lucky Court at about 7 p.m. Monday.

The 51-year-old victim was stabbed in the abdomen and suffered serious injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

The victim told police Monday night that he and Boozer argued after Boozer had been disrespectful to family members while at his grandmother’s house. Boozer stabbed the man in the left side of his stomach, a police report states, then threatened him with a gun.

Boozer’s bond was set at $62,000 Thursday morning, Bollinger said, but he was taken into custody by the state Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services.

The agency had a warrant for Boozer for a parole violation, according to spokesman Peter O’Boyle. He was on probation for the throwing of bodily fluids by a prisoner on a corrections employee.

Boozer was in prison on marijuana possession and stalking charges at the time, O’Boyle said.
