A Rock Hill woman is behind bars after, police say, she tried to run over another woman while her three kids were in the car with her.

Meaghan Justine Monteith, 23, was charged with three counts of unlawful conduct toward a child, assault and battery and disorderly conduct, according to law enforcement records. She was placed in the Rock Hill city jail, where she remained Monday under $18,000 bond.

Officers responded Sunday afternoon to a disturbance outside a business on the 1800 block of Cherry Road, where they found several people standing outside their vehicles yelling, according to a Rock Hill police report. Witnesses said they saw a white Cadillac Escalade pull in front of the business and heard people yelling.

Monteith and another woman were trying to fight each other but were split up by several other people, police said. The other woman walked away, but Monteith reportedly got into the Escalade and tried to hit the second woman with the vehicle.

Monteith then drove around the parking lot and tried to hit the woman again, police said. Monteith later told officers she received a text from the other woman asking her to come to the business so they could fight, and that the woman charged at her first.

Monteith told officers after they were split up, she “attempted to drive up to” the other woman “to confront her again.”

The other woman told officers she texted Monteith and asked her to meet there to “settle their problems and fight if necessary.” Monteith reportedly grabbed a large wrench and tried to charge at her with it. She then got in her vehicle after they were split up and tried to run over the woman and her boyfriend, the report states.

Monteith had her three children in the car throughout the incident, police said. Officers saw a shotgun in plain view inside the Escalade.

The second female suspect was charged with disorderly conduct, according to the report.
