Two men investigators say are known drug dealers were arrested on multiple drug distribution charges after a chase through the city of Rock Hill on Wednesday afternoon, according to authorities.

Officers with the York County Multijurisdictional Drug Enforcement Unit tried to stop a 1997 Honda Civic on Sturgis Street in Rock Hill about 5:45 p.m. Wednesday, according to Marvin Brown, commander of the drug unit. Investigators had four warrants for the car’s passenger, Brandon Charles Griggs, 24, for selling methamphetamine and heroin.

The driver, Anthony David Grajeda, 23, disregarded the blue lights and siren while being pursued by officers with the drug unit, the York County Sheriff’s Office and the Rock Hill Police Department, Brown said. Officers pursued the vehicle around Willowbrook Avenue, Dave Lyle Boulevard and White Street. Grajeda tried to drive behind a business at 220 W. White St. and down the railroad tracks but was stopped by a large heating and air conditioning unit.

Both suspects jumped and ran from the vehicle and were caught a short distance away, Brown said. Investigators recovered cocaine, meth, heroin, Suboxone, a large amount of packing materials, 10 cellphones and $565 cash in the car. Grajeda consumed “a quantity” of heroin and had to be treated at Piedmont Medical Center before being released to authorities.

“Griggs and Grajeda are multiple drug violators that were responsible for selling heroin, methamphetamine and cocaine to numerous persons, especially on the east side of Rock Hill,” Brown said.

Griggs was jailed on multiple charges including trafficking cocaine, second offense; possession with intent to distribute cocaine within a half-mile of a park; distribution of methamphetamine, third offense; distribution of methamphetamine within a half-mile of a park; distribution of heroin, third offense; possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell, third offense; and possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell within a half-mile of a park, according to Brown.

Grajeda was charged with possession of heroin with intent to sell, third offense; possession of heroin with intent to sell within a half-mile of a park; possession of methamphetamine, second offense; obstruction of justice; failure to stop for blue lights; driving under suspension, second offense; operating an uninsured vehicle; and leaving the scene of the accident, according to Brown.

Both remained in the York County Detention Center without bond on Thursday.
