Rock Hill man gets probation for pointing gun at cop who shot back
The Rock Hill man who pointed a shotgun at police in October, prompting an officer to shoot at him, was sentenced to two years’ probation late Thursday after pleading guilty to use of a firearm while under the influence.
Tyler Hoffman, 26, admitted in court that he was under the influence, but both his lawyer and prosecutors agreed that Hoffman did not intend to shoot the officers. Hoffman, who has been in jail since, must undergo continued mental health treatment as part of his sentence.
No one was injured in the incident on Jones Avenue.
