1 airlifted after Lancaster shooting, warrant issued for attempted murder

Authorities are looking for a Lancaster man wanted in connection with a Friday night shooting.

Markevius Grafton Harper, 23, is wanted on an attempted murder warrant, the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office announced in a media release on Monday.

Harper is accused of shooting a 21-year-old man outside a home on the 900 block of 14th Street shortly after 11 p.m. Friday.

The sheriff’s office alleges an argument broke out between Harper, the victim and the their girlfriends, which escalated into a physical confrontation. Harper reportedly retrieved a handgun from his car and shot the man in the left side of his chest, according to the release.

Harper fled the scene in what is described as a silver or gray Chevrolet Cobalt with a paper tag from Matt’s Auto.

The victim was taken to Springs Memorial Hospital and then airlifted to another facility, where he is expected to recover.
