Rock Hill man charged with child molestation after victim comes forward years later
A Rock Hill man was arrested Monday on accusations that he molested a young neighbor who is now an adult.
Julio Andres Castillo, 34, was charged with two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor, second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor and third-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor, according to jail records. He was placed in the Rock Hill city jail, where a judge denied bond.
The victim, who is now 18, met with investigators in January and told them Castillo sexually assaulted him four times when he was between ages 7 and 12, according to a police report. The victim said Castillo would “sexually touch him” while he was at Castillo’s house, which was in the victim’s neighborhood.
The victim said he waited so long to report it “believed it to be normal behavior, and as he grew older realized it was wrong,” the report states.
South Carolina does not have a statute of limitations on sex offenses.
The incident report lists Castillo’s age as 22; however, a police spokesman said that was his age around the time the alleged abuse occurred. Castillo is 34, according to jail records.
