Thief steals thousands in change from York vending truck
A man refilling vending machines lost something more than snacks this week.
York police were called to the Lowe’s parking lot on East Liberty Street Thursday morning after a snack truck reportedly was robbed of thousands of dollars, most of it in change.
The driver told police he was collecting money from the drink and snack machines inside the store around 8:30 a.m., but when he returned to his truck in the parking lot, he discovered the locking arm of the door had been cut, according to a York police report.
Eighteen money bags had been taken from the truck, each holding approximately $100 in loose change and $1 bills.
The case remains under investigation.
