Rock Hill teen charged with shooting driver in buttocks
Police on Monday arrested a Rock Hill teenager who allegedly shot a woman in the buttocks while they were in a car.
Dnique Gregory, 17, was charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature and unlawful carry of a pistol, according to jail records. He was placed in the Rock Hill city jail, where he remained Tuesday morning under $8,000 bond.
Officers responded to the 2200 block of Dave Lyle Boulevard about 2:45 a.m. Sunday in reference to a shooting, police have said. The passenger in the front seat said that earlier in the day, she and the 19-year-old driver picked up a friend at a store near Saluda Road and Heckle Boulevard.
Later, the back seat passenger, Gregory, allegedly shot the driver in the buttocks, the report states.
Capt. Mark Bollinger said the shooting was accidental but that Gregory wasn’t handling the gun safely.
