Man hospitalized after assault at Rock Hill restaurant

A man was hospitalized after being assaulted by several people outside a Rock Hill restaurant, police said.

The assault happened just before 2 a.m. Wednesday outside Empire Pizza on Old York Road, according to a police report. An employee of the restaurant said she went outside to remove a sign at closing and saw five or six people beating up a man. She went inside to get the bouncer, who pulled one of the attackers off of the victim.

The suspects fled in a red car when an employee called 911, police said. Officers found the victim unconscious but breathing on the ground in the parking lot.

The restaurant employee who found the victim was able to identify two of the suspects, one of whom she said frequents the business, police said. Both employees told officers that everything at the restaurant was quiet before the incident, and the two parties didn’t appear to have any problems.

Officers went to Piedmont Medical Center, where the victim was being treated, but were unable to get anymore information from him while doctors treated him.

No arrests have been made in connection with the assault.
