9 smash and grab car break-ins reported in Baxter, Waterstone

staff reports

Nine car break-ins were reported Thursday in Fort Mill’s Baxter Village and Waterstone communities.

Most of the doors were locked and the suspects smashed windows out of the cars, said York County Sheriff’s spokesman Trent Faris.

The Waterstone thefts occurred on Tanzanite Circle, Sedona Place, Leela Palace Way, Shadow Moss Circle and Fossil Stone Lane. Windows were smashed in each case and stolen items included two wallet, purse, computer, iPad and a backpack that was recovered in a neighbor’s yard.

In one case, a neighbor saw two men inside the vehicle between 12:30 and 1:30 a.m.

“If you see something suspicious, do not hesitate to call 911,” Faris said.

The Baxter Village burglaries took place on Coneflower Place and Fifth Baxter. Stolen items included computers, an iPad, handgun and a computer bag that was recovered in a neighbor’s yard.

Faris said this is a good reminder to remove all valuables from cars or lock them in the trunk when you leave your vehicle.
