An unknown man walked into a home and shot a man in the stomach before fleeing late Thursday, according to Rock Hill police.
The shooting happened at about 9:30 p.m. at a home in the 200 block of Simrill Street, according to a police report. Officers arrived and found the 50-year-old victim at the base of the steps to the home, holding his stomach and saying he had been shot.
The victim was taken by EMS ambulance to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, police said.
Several witnesses were at the home, one of whom said he and the victim had been inside the home drinking when an unidentified man walked in, shot the victim and fled in a black Audi sedan.
Witnesses told police there was no argument between the two. No arrests have been made, and detectives are still working the case.
The victim was wanted by the state Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services, according to the report.
