A 26-year-old York woman was charged with reckless driving and drug offenses after an officer saw her car weaving across the center line on S.C. 49 in the Lake Wylie area, according to a report.
Lauren Nicole Hilburn of 7019 Campbell Road, York, was charged Tuesday with reckless driving, possession of a controlled substance and possession of prescription drugs, according to York County sheriff’s reports.
Hilburn was driving on S.C. 49 when a deputy saw the vehicle cross the center line or veer off the road several times, almost hitting several other vehicles, according to a report. The deputy stopped the vehicle and arrested Hilburn, who was initially charged with reckless driving, the report said.
The officer also found a small plastic bag on the ground near the car containing 11 doses of Xanax, the report said.
Hilburn told the officer she had a prescription for the drug but that someone had stolen hers and that the pills found by the officer had been purchased illegally, the report said.
Multiple prescription bottles, some of which were prescribed to other people, were found in the vehicle. None of the other drugs were controlled substances, but they do require a prescription, the report said.
Hilburn was being held Saturday in the York County Detention Center.
