A York County deputy was transported to a hospital after crashing her patrol car while pursuing a suspect.
Sources told The Herald the deputy involved is Marina Arbelo. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
She was treated and released at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte after suffering a broken collar bone and “a few cuts and bruises,” said Trent Faris, spokesman for the York County Sheriff’s Office.
A suspect has been identified and officials are trying to locate that person.
The crash happened on Carowinds Boulevard in Fort Mill, Faris said. The deputy was in the midst of a traffic stop when the suspect sped off. Arbelo was pursuing the suspect when she lost control of her patrol car and crashed.
