Police make prostitution arrest at Rock Hill’s Ramada Inn
Rock Hill police arrested a 40-year-old woman Wednesday on prostitution charges at the Ramada Inn off Cherry Road.
Savanah Smith was arrested after police were called to the motel to investigate possible drug activity and prostitution about 10:30 p.m., according to a police report.
Officers smelled burnt marijuana coming from a room. They knocked but no one responded, according to a police report. They then went to an adjacent room room where a person said she knew Smith only short while and had met her through mutual friends in North Carolina. The person advised police she did not want any trouble because she had pending charges in North Carolina, according to the report.
Officers asked a motel employee to open the door to the first room. They found Smith, who had passed out on the bed, according to the report.
Smith said that she “had company,” earlier, but they were just “hanging out,” according to the report.
Officers asked Smith if she solicited sex for money. She said the man did not have any money and that she tried, “but was not successful,” according to the report.
A motel employee gave police an ad for prostitution with a description that matched Smith, and police called telephone number listed on the website, reaching Smith’s cell phone, according to the report.
