Rock Hill driver charged with DUI after SUV flips, hits parked cars

A man was charged with DUI after a Wednesday crash in which his SUV rolled over several times and hit three vehicles, according to Rock Hill Police.

The crash happened about 11:20 p.m. at Ogden Road and Friedheim Road. Officers found an Oldsmobile SUV that had overturned several times off Friedheim Road and hit three vehicles parked at 357 Friedheim Road, according to a report. A witness told officers he saw the driver of the SUV throw a beer can on the ground.

The 22-year-old driver, who declined EMS treatment, smelled of alcohol and exhibited signs of intoxication, police said. He could not provide the required documentation and became disorderly and non-compliant with officers trying to investigate the wreck.

Due to the driver’s behavior and a growing crowd, officers transported the driver to the Rock Hill Law Center for field sobriety testing, police said. He was charged with DUI after failing multiple tests.

The driver provided a breath sample that yielded a .07 percent blood-alcohol content, the report states. He told officers he had consumed several alcoholic drinks, and admitted several times that he was impaired and should not have been driving.
