Police: Shots fired in 2 weekend Rock Hill armed robberies
Police in Rock Hill are investigating a pair of armed robberies over the weekend during which residents reported shots fired, according to police reports.
Just before 5 a.m. Saturday, a man told police he came home to Gettys Street in Rock Hill when an unknown armed assailant came to the car door and “asked for everything he’s got,” the report states. The victim jumped back in his car and began honking the horn to alert his family, then the assailant tried to break the car window with the gun.
The victim told police the attacker fled. Later, he said, he was driving on Sunset Drive when someone fired shots at the back of his car, the report states, and officers found bullet holes in the trunk and bumper as well as four shell casings.
At about 2 p.m. Sunday, police responded to reports of several shots being fired on Menzies Drive, and witnesses seeing a red Honda and gray Jeep fleeing afterward. Officers found 12 shell casings in the road near a neighborhood park, another Rock Hill police report shows.
Officers found a victim who told them that he was at the park when he was robbed at gunpoint, then the assailant fired several shots into the air.
Both cases are being investigated.
