A driver pulled over for making an improper turn was later arrested after officers found drugs in her car, according to Rock Hill police.

Officers pulled over a silver Acura after the driver made an improper turn from Riverview Road onto Eden Terrace at about 11 p.m. Friday, according to a police report. The driver, Brenda Marie Byers, 55, initially gave officers a false name and birth date.

Police say they smelled marijuana in the car. Byers gave them permission to search her purse, the report states, in which they found about 5 grams of marijuana.

Byers told officers she lied to them about her identity because her driver’s license is suspended for failure to pay traffic tickets.

When police searched the car, they found 1.66 grams of crack cocaine in eight separate bags in the center console, the report states.

Byers was charged with possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine, possession of marijuana and giving false information, according to the report. She was placed in the Rock Hill city jail and released Saturday under $11,500 bond.
