Officials: Chester body identified as missing Rock Hill man
Officials in Chester County confirmed Monday that the body found late Saturday night just outside the Chester city limits is a Rock Hill man police had been searching for since May 9.
Authorities with the Chester County Sheriff’s Office identified the body as Jamal Shabazz, 34. An autopsy was being done Monday. The cause of death is still undetermined.
No foul play is suspected in the death, said Chief Deputy Robert Sprouse said. The case remains under investigation, Sprouse said.
Shabazz’s body was found near the Pinckney Street area where he was last seen May 9.
After Shabazz went missing Monday, police in Chester asked for the public’s help in locating him after family members filed a police report saying Shabazz required medications.
