A Clover man allegedly posted an ad selling marijuana on Craigslist and set up a sale with an undercover officer.

A Clover man is behind bars after he posted an ad to Craigslist about selling marijuana, and then sold some to an undercover officer, according to the York County Sheriff’s Office.

James Wesley Kinley, 27, is charged with distribution of marijuana and distribution of marijuana in proximity to a school, according to jail records.

Kinley advertised marijuana he had to sell on the website Craiglist, said Lt. Mike Ligon of the York County Multijurisdictional Drug Enforcement Unit.

The ad, which is still active, is titled “Pot...I SELL WEED – $200.” It was posted three times on Tuesday.

It advertises a bag of “Loud Smoke,” which police say Kinley was selling at $200 for the entire bag and $100 for half the bag.

“Officers got a tip that this was on Craigslist, at which time one of my investigators looked at the ad and texted the number,” Ligon said. “He called the officer and they actually set up the drug deal.”

Kinley arranged to meet the undercover officers at a store parking lot in Clover to complete the transaction, Ligon said. They approached Kinley’s vehicle, where he gave them 11.9 grams of marijuana, at which point he was arrested.

Ligon said officers also recovered $381 in cash from the car.

Kinley remained in the York County Detention Center on Thursday under $17,500 bond.
