Lancaster police are seeking a man who was out on bond for several other charges when, investigators say, he shot and killed another man at an apartment complex Saturday.

Rashad Demon Johnson, 28, is wanted on charges of murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, according to a release from the Lancaster Police Department. Johnson should be considered armed and dangerous.

Officers responded to a shooting at Palmetto Place Apartments just before 3 p.m. Saturday, Capt. Scott Grant said. They found a victim with a gunshot wound behind an apartment on the 1600 block.

The victim was transported to Springs Memorial Hospital and later airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center, where he died from his injuries, Grant said.

The name of the victim has not yet been released.

Johnson is out on bond facing several felony charges after previous arrests, according to online court records, including alleged offenses involving weapons, drugs and robbery. The pending charges go back as far as 2010, court records show.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts should call the Lancaster Police Department at 803-283-3313 or the anonymous tip line at 803-289-6030.
