Rock Hill mother charged after newborn tests positive for cocaine

A Rock Hill mother was charged with unlawful conduct toward a child after giving birth to a premature baby that tested positive for cocaine, according to police.

Jackleen Elizabeth Mullen, 19, was placed in the Rock Hill city jail on Friday and released the same day under $2,000 bond, according to jail records.

Rock Hill Police on March 9 received a report from the York County Department of Social Services about a baby testing positive for cocaine after being born at Piedmont Medical Center two days earlier, according to an incident report. The baby was born at 26 weeks gestation and was flown to a Columbia hospital to be cared for in the neonatal intensive care unit.

Mullen tested positive for cocaine and benzodiazepines, police said. A urine test on the baby was positive for cocaine.
