Trooper’s vehicle hit while working fatal I-77 crash in York County
A S.C. Highway Patrol trooper’s vehicle was hit by a driver later charged with DUI Thursday night as the trooper was investigating an earlier fatal DUI crash along Interstate 77 in Rock Hill, police said.
The Highway Patrol’s accident reconstruction team was on the scene of the fatal crash on Interstate 77 when the trooper’s vehicle was hit, said Kim Morehouse, a spokesperson for the York County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies handled the investigation of the second crash because the trooper on scene at the first crash was the victim.
Deputies arrested Brent Horace Adgerson, 25, and charged him with DUI, Morehouse said. Adgerson was taken to the York County Detention Center. On Friday, he posted a $2,262 bond and was released, jail officials said.
The trooper was in the vehicle at the time of the crash but his name has not been released. He was taken for medical treatment, then released.
In the first crash, Lacee Sullivan, 23, of Monroe, N.C.,was killed. Jeannine Valdes, 35, was charged with felony DUI resulting in death.
