Rock Hill cops: Felon had handgun, cocaine
Rock Hill police say a convicted felon had a stolen handgun and a half-gram of cocaine in his possession Sunday, according to law enforcement records.
Kyreem Michael Renfroe, 26, was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of a stolen handgun and possession of a handgun by a person convicted of a violent crime, according to a police report. He was released from jail Monday on bond.
Officers on patrol on South Herlong Avenue just after midnight Sunday saw several men standing beside a gray Cadillac behind a building, according to the report. Renfroe told officers he had sold the Cadillac to someone and was attempting to retrieve parts off the vehicle.
Police say they saw a Crown Royal bag on top of the Cadillac. After no one claimed ownership of the bag, an officer opened it and found marijuana inside, the report states. The officer saw a second Crown Royal bag on the trunk of a white Cadillac.
Renfroe told officers the bag was not his. Inside the bag, an officer found .49 grams of cocaine, police said. Renfroe, who police determined was a convicted felon, was arrested.
During a search of the vehicle, officers found a 9mm handgun in the trunk, the report states. A check of the serial number revealed the gun had been reported stolen in Charlotte.
