Report: Chickens mutilated, placed back in pen at Rock Hill home

MCT

A Rock Hill man says someone cut the heads off six of his chickens and then put the birds back in their pen, according to the York County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident was reported Saturday at a home on Canberra Drive, according to a sheriff’s report. The owner told deputies that sometime between Friday and Saturday, someone entered a fenced area on the back of his home and cut the heads off six of his chickens.

Deputies say there was hardly any blood in the caged area, and the owner says he believes the chickens were taken away, hung upside down somewhere and mutilated before being brought back to the caged area.

He told officers one chicken’s body “was in a manner that was consistent with being hung upside down.” Three of the chickens were placed back into the pen, and the other three were in the yard.

No arrests have been made. The owner said he had cameras in front of his home but that they weren’t recording at the time of the incident.
